een Connection is a "service leadership" program for high school students who have been confirmed (or who would like to be confirmed) into church membership, as well as for other youth who would like to do community service. Its purpose is to support young people in remaining involved and connected with the Congregation through volunteer service projects at TEMC, and elsewhere in the community.
Teen Connection meets as a group about once every 4 to 6 weeks, as scheduled from September to June, for a fun and supportive social/ learning event. Programs will focus on leadership development and community service issues and opportunities. Between these gatherings, members are encouraged to become involved in one or more community service projects that may include:
Child care in the home
Children's Church School support
Churches-On-The-Hill Food Bank
Don River Environmental Cleanup
Duke of Edinburgh's Awards
Great Fall Gathering " traffic " control
Grocery shopping for seniors
Habitat for Humanity
Snow shovelling for seniors
Spring Plant Sale
Summer Youth Service Program
Terry Fox Marathon for Cancer Research
Artisans9 Market assistance
Toronto Street Life Awareness Program
Worship Service leadership; etc.
Yard work for seniors
plus other volunteer opportunities that are recommended to the Teen Connection community service registry.
